Executive producer Brian Grazer confirmed, that Arrested Development renewed for a fifth season. What about premiere date in 2016?
Channel: Netflix
Created by: Mitchell Hurwitz
Genre: Sitcom
It’s not a secret that the frequent change of the airtime of Arrested Development television show on FOX resulted in the fall of its ratings and the number of fans decreased below 4 million people (8 million at the beginning). Despite this, the television series got six Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe, as well as had positive reviews from critics and could have become one of the most successful shows on FOX.
Instead, in 2006 the rights holders decided to close the show, which caused the experts’ bewilderment and the remaining fans’ disappointment. In 2009 it was announced about the decision to shoot the feature movie, with the same actors starring but the movie has not been released yet.
Thanks to Netflix, in 2013 Season 4 of the television series was filmed and released, and recently the executive producer Brian Grazer confirmed his plans to produce 17 new episodes for Season 5, which were going to be released in 2018.
Looking forward to the continuation, as the devoted fans deserve it!
UPDATE 1 (February 25, 2016): Production is slated to begin in June 2017. The return of Arrested Development is still TBD.
UPDATE 2 (May 17, 2017): Netflix has also commissioned a fifth season of Arrested Development.
