The Broken Branch: How Congress Is Failing America and How to Get It Back on TrackThe Broken Branch offers both a brilliant diagnosis of the cause of Congressional decline and a much needed blueprint for change, from two experts who understand politics and revere our institutions, but believe that Congress has become deeply dysfunctional. The Broken Branch offers both a brilliant diagnosis of the cause of Congressional decline and a much-needed blueprint for change, from two experts who understand politics and revere our institutions, but believe that Congress has become deeply dysfunctional. Mann and Ornstein, two of the nation's most renowned and judicious scholars of government and politics, bring to light the historical roots of Congress's current maladies, examining 40 years of uninterrupted Democratic control of the House and the stunning midterm election victory of 1994 that propelled Republicans into the majority in both House and Senate. The byproduct of that long and grueling but ultimately successful Republican campaign, the authors reveal, was a weakened institution bitterly divided between the parties. They highlight the dramatic shift in Congress from a highly decentralized, committee-based institution into a much more regimented one in which party increasingly trumps committee. The resultant changes in the policy process--the demise of regular order, the decline of deliberation, and the weakening of our system of checks and balances--have all compromised the role of Congress in the American Constitutional system. From tax cuts to the war against Saddam Hussein to a Medicare prescription drug benefit, the Legislative process has been bent to serve immediate presidential interests and have often resulted in poorly crafted and stealthily passed laws. Strong majority leadership in Congress, the authors conclude, led not to a vigorous exertion of congressional authority but to a general passivity in the face of executive power.

Wow! Quality glasses with a beautiful design.
Color: Black/Dark Grey, Lens Width: 53 Millimeters
It seems like you're frequently given the option between fashion or quality in the sunglass marketplace. A lot of the fashion eyewear simply falls short on lens quality, durability, or comfort. These glasses have it all. The lens are fantastic and clear, the quality of the frame is very high end, and the comfort of wearing is incredible. Then there is the fashion aspect. These are true swarovski crystals and are every bit as gorgeous as you would expect from the name. I'm thrilled with these sunglasses!

My new favorite sunglasses! Love the design and shape of these, they’re high quality and well made. Easily and securely fit my small framed face well and look so good on. I’ve gotten a ton of compliments and plan to purchase a second pair for my daughter who also loves them!

beautiful color and style
Color: Dark Green/Azure Internal Mirrored Silver, Lens Width: 53 Millimeters, Color: Dark Green/Azure Internal Mirrored Silver, Lens Width: 53 Millimeters
These are really beautiful sunglasses, with a thick, sturdy green frame and gorgeous emerald green crystal accents at the temples. The hinge is set inside the crystal, so when you fold the glasses, the crystal splits into two parts. It's a neat feature and really unique. The lenses are green but lightly mirrored. I love the style and color of these glasses, as they are definitely unusual and people will notice them. They are, unfortunately, a little tight on my head. I am going to take them to my optician and see if they can be adjusted. I also believe these may have been tried on or used and returned, as the lenses are both smudged like someone handled them with dirty hands. The glasses do not seem to be damaged, but I would have expected a pristine pair at this price point. They come with paperwork and a lens cloth, along with a case for carrying and storage. Paperwork says they are made by Luxottica, which is a high-end, luxury eyewear company in Milan, Italy, that owns or licenses many popular luxury eyewear brands. They are lovely glasses with very good quality, a fun upscale look, and tons of style. I like them a lot and expect many compliments on this eye-catching pair!
