In de Bordeaux streek is Médoc een klasse apart. De regio strekt zich uit over meer dan 80 kilometer en biedt verschillende bodems. Hierdoor is elke Bordeaux rode wijn anders en geeft het hiermee ook veel spanning. Het gebied staat bijvoorbeeld bekend om zijn grote keien en klei. Welke druivensoorten gebruikt Château Carcanieux 1997?

De druiven die gebruik zijn in deze Bordeaux rode wijn zijn:

  • 45% Merlot
  • 40% Cabernet Sauvignon
  • 10% Cabernet Franc
  • 5% Petit Verdot

Dit maakt dat deze oude rode wijn goed gerijpt is. De structuur van cabernet sauvignon zorgt voor rijpingspotentie. Daarnaast zorgt de merlot voor sappigheid en de cabernet franc voor donker fruit en kleur.

De ondergrond maakt de Château Carcanieux 1997 een uniek Bordeaux wijn

Natuurlijk is het allerbelangrijkste voor de rode Bordeaux wijnen de ondergrond. In het gebied zijn de grote stenen betiteld als Graves. Hierdoor is het gebied Graves ook aan zijn naam gekomen. De druiven voor de Oude Bordeaux zijn aangeplant in 1977 volgens een intensief herbeplanting programma.
