Experience the transformative power of Trauma-Sensitive Yoga in Therapy, an essential resource for mental health professionals. This groundbreaking book, published by W W Norton & Company, explores the profound connection between mind and body for individuals who have experienced complex trauma, such as chronic childhood abuse or domestic violence. Traditional talk therapy often falls short when addressing the deeply rooted issues that manifest in the body, leading to symptoms of self-hatred, fear, and disconnection. Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TSY), based on comprehensive research from the Trauma Center in Brookline, Massachusetts, provides a compassionate framework for healing by helping clients reconnect with their physical selves. This 240-page guide offers evidence-based practices that empower survivors to develop body awareness safely and meaningfully, unlocking the path to recovery. Whether you are a therapist seeking innovative techniques or a survivor looking for supportive strategies, this book is an invaluable addition to your toolkit. Description:
When treating a client who has suffered from interpersonal trauma”whether chronic childhood abuse or domestic violence, for example”talk therapy isn't always the most effective course. For these individuals, the trauma and its effects are so entrenched, so complex, that reducing their experience to a set of symptoms or suggesting a change in cognitive frame or behavioural pattern ignores a very basic but critical player: the body.
In cases of complex trauma, mental health professionals largely agree that the body itself contains and manifests much of the suffering”self hatred, shame and fear. Take, for example, a woman who experienced years of childhood sexual abuse and, though very successful in her professional life, has periods of not being able to feel her limbs, sensing an overall disconnection from her very physical being. Reorienting clients to their bodies and building their "body sense" can be the very key to unlocking their pain and building a path toward healing.
Based on research studies conducted at the renowned Trauma Center in Brookline, Massachusetts, this book presents the successful intervention known as Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TSY), an evidence-based programme for traumatised clients that helps them to reconnect to their bodies in a safe, deliberate way.

Good, inexpensive work watch
Color: all black watch
Bought as a working watch so I don’t wreck my good watches. It’s been working just fine and holding up well while not taking very good care of it. Keeps accurate time. Glass has stayed clear. Black finish looks good and is holding up well. Seems to hold up with steady pounding.
Stop watch buttons are a bit crude and will mess up your time when your hand gets pushed back against it during hard labor. However, I have not babied this watch at all.
