When will Call the Midwife season 6 start in 2017? The series had already been commissioned for Christmas Special and another eight episodes.
There are good news for fans of the series Call the Midwife: BBC director general Tony Hall has confirmed that the series is renewed for a fifth season (episodes taking it into 1962). By the way, in addition to eight new episodes, which are appointed to January 2017 (no exact date yet), the viewers will see Christmas Special on 25th December 2016.
The rapid renewal Tony Hall explained by the magnificent fourth season rating and stable viewing audience (about 10 million people in the UK). For channel BBC One series Call the Midwife is very important because it is popular not only at home but around the world.
The right holders do not hide that it is too early to speak about closing of this story, because the script writers have a lot of ideas to show the viewers. Creator Heidi Thomas in his recent interview has emphasized that every year his team is becoming more bold and ambitious.
We are looking forward to the return of the series aired on BBC One!
UPDATE 1 (Nov.24, 2016): Call the Midwife has been renewed for Seasons 7, 8 and 9, with a Christmas special included in each.
