The official announcement from Fox has not yet been announced, but Fox Television Group CEOs Dana Walden and Gary Newman insist that the creators of the series are discussing on this matter.

The excellent rating of the fifth season allows the right holders to “give green light” to the production of a new “portion” of episodes, so the chances for the renewal are very high. Also Dana Walden notes that “we want to make it special”, which means that the release date of the 6th season of “Prison Break” can be appointed for any period of the year.

Of course, it is not worth waiting for the premiere in 2017, but many experts expect a release in 2018. The main actors of the series are ready to start the shooting process, about which they repeatedly have mentioned in their comments.

UPDATE 2 (January 4, 2018): Fox has renewed the series for Season 6.
