UPDATE! Switched at Birth has been renewed for a fifth season at ABC Family/Freeform. What about the premiere (start) date of Season 5 Episode 1 in 2016?
The number of fans of the show Switched at Birth in 2015 has reduced a bit, but it still remains one of the most popular youth dramas of ABC Family and deserves to be renewed for the fifth season. The fall of the rating of the given project was expected by many critics, who don’t want the show to be broadcast next year.
Despite that fact, the show and its cast were again nominated for the prestigious awards (Imagen Awards, Teen Choice Awards, TCA Awards), and its showrunner Lizzy Weiss in her interview for THR confirmed plans for Season 5. She noted that the show wouldn’t be canceled as the screenwriters have a lot of materials to be released.
Weiss also hinted at time jumps, which can de used in the fifth season, as the given approach to the implementation of the plot was applied in the show Pretty Little Liars and turned to be quite successful. So, the first step has already been made and now we should only wait for the announcement from ABC Family.
