When will a new season of Aquarius come out? NBC announced the order of the second season. The premiere start date is scheduled for summer 2016.

The debut television series with David Duchovny, performing the main role, Aquarius, premiered on NBC in May the current year and got different reviews of critics. John McNamara developed the project, and Marty Adelstein, Vahan Moosekian, Becky Clements, Jonas Pate and others are in the list of executive producers. Tomorrow Studios is responsible for the production, and NBC has rights for broadcast.

The events of the show take place in 1967 in Los Angeles. Hollywood detective Sam Hodiak and undercover officer Brian Shafe investigate the case of lost teenage girl Emma Karn, a daughter of Grace Karn, who is the former beloved of Hodiak. The investigations lead to Charles Manson and his followers.

The show is inspired by actual events, but some characters and storylines are also fictional. The premiere of two episodes was watched by 5.67 million Americans, but already in the middle of the season this figure fell to 3.15 million people. After its debut on TV, all 13 episodes of the first season appeared on NBC and HULU. The success of the online translation was much bigger. It’s the #2 most-viewed drama premiere ever on the NBC App (The Blacklist is #1). The rights holders remain satisfied with such debut and have announced about the show renewal for Season 2. Jennifer Salke noted that not only had the new crime drama interested the huge amount of viewers, but also excited the critics. So, the renewal could be suggested fair.

At the moment it is known that the release of the continuation is scheduled for summer 2016, but it is too early to talk (UPDATE 1) about the exact date of a start.
